Hanna Mathis, originally from Vorarlberg, lives and works as a freelance director in Vienna. After studying journalism and digital media, she learned her love of film after working on her own short film projects and internships in film productions. In her employment at Rund, an advertising film production company, she immersed herself in the world of advertising - she then directed a wide variety of advertising films for clients such as Billa, ÖBB, and the city of Vienna.
Her short documentary “Wheels of Madness” about Gal, a music loving man from Isreal, touring various music festivals around the globe in his wheelchair, won a golden dolphin award at the Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards 2020.
Hanna's compassionate work ranges from commercial work to portraits, documentaries and series, with a focus on projects that are inclusive, diverse, warm and authentic. She prefers a documentary approach and to work with female protagonists, the queer community, the elderly, children and people with disabilities.
